A quick and easy wrap combining crispy chicken, fresh romaine, creamy Caesar dressing, and homemade garlic croutons for a fresh and satisfying handheld meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 12 oz / 340 g), sliced into strips
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (or almond flour for gluten-free option)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or avocado oil (for frying)
  • 2 large flour tortillas or whole wheat wraps
  • 2 cups romaine lettuce, chopped
  • 1/3 cup Caesar dressing
  • 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup homemade garlic croutons
  • For garlic croutons:
  • 2 slices day-old bread, cubed
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the garlic croutons: Heat a small skillet over medium heat. Toss bread cubes with olive oil, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt. Toast in skillet, stirring often, until golden and crispy (about 5 minutes). Set aside.
  2. Season and dredge the chicken: In a shallow bowl, mix flour, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Pat chicken strips dry, then coat evenly in the flour mixture. Shake off excess.
  3. Cook the chicken: Heat 2 tablespoons oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken strips in a single layer, avoiding overcrowding. Fry 3-4 minutes per side until golden and cooked through (internal temp 165°F). Remove and drain on paper towels.
  4. Assemble the wraps: Lay out tortillas. Spread Caesar dressing across each wrap. Layer chopped romaine, crispy chicken strips, Parmesan, and garlic croutons. Wrap tightly, folding in sides to secure.
  5. Optional pan toast: Place wraps seam-side down in skillet over medium heat for 1-2 minutes per side to warm, melt cheese slightly, and add a golden crust.

Notes

Do not overcrowd the pan when frying chicken to maintain crispiness. Pat chicken dry before dredging. Use fresh romaine lettuce and add dressing just before serving to avoid sogginess. Pan-toasting the wrap seals it and adds a golden crust. Store croutons separately if packing for later to keep crunch.
