A creamy, smooth, and comforting copycat of Starbucks’ Brown Sugar Oat Milk Espresso made with simple ingredients like brown sugar syrup, oat milk, and fresh espresso. Perfect for home baristas looking for a quick and delicious coffee treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ cup (100 g) dark brown sugar
  • ½ cup (120 ml) water
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 2 shots (60 ml / 2 fl oz) freshly brewed espresso
  • ¾ cup (180 ml) oat milk (barista style preferred)
  • Ice cubes (optional, for iced version)

Instructions

  1. Make the Brown Sugar Syrup: Combine ½ cup dark brown sugar and ½ cup water in a small saucepan. Add ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon if using. Heat over medium, stirring constantly until sugar dissolves and mixture thickens slightly. Remove from heat and let cool.
  2. Prepare the Espresso: Brew 2 shots of espresso (about 60 ml). If no espresso machine, prepare ½ cup (120 ml) very strong coffee. Set aside.
  3. Froth the Oat Milk: Pour ¾ cup oat milk into a frothing pitcher or small bowl. Froth with a milk frother or whisk until creamy and slightly foamy. For iced version, skip frothing and chill oat milk.
  4. Assemble the Drink: In serving glass, add 2 tablespoons (30 ml) brown sugar syrup. Pour in hot espresso and stir gently to combine.
  5. Add Oat Milk: Slowly pour frothed oat milk over espresso and syrup mixture. For iced, add ice cubes before oat milk.
  6. Final Touch: Stir gently to combine layers. Optionally sprinkle a tiny pinch of cinnamon on top.
  7. Enjoy: Sip slowly and savor the creamy, sweet, and bold flavors.

Notes

If syrup gets too thick when cooled, warm gently before using. Froth oat milk longer or use barista blend for creamier texture. Use freshly ground espresso beans for best flavor. Store syrup refrigerated in airtight container for up to two weeks. Adjust syrup amount to taste to avoid overpowering sweetness.
